We are in Gethsemane with Jesus getting a glimpse of the “emotional roller coaster” ride that Jesus was on prior to His crucifixion. Mark is taking us further into seeing the heart of Jesus for us.

The church of Jesus Christ is strange--to those outside the church. "To be great, we must serve" is a paradox inside the church, but it sounds like an oxymoron to those outside. Another paradox goes like this: "To be clean, one must be covered in crimson." But the church reflects true reality in the paradox. And it's especially true as John sees the great multitide from every nation, tribe and tongue around the throne. These martyred saints in their deaths are the victors.
