Many of us are familiar with the story of Pentecost. Hundreds of people fluently speaking in languages they had never learned. Flames of fire appearing over their heads. The apostle Peter preaching a powerful message. And when he was done, about 3,000 souls were added to the church. Certainly, Pentecost was a supernatural phenomenon. But what was Pentecost all about anyway? For people to speak in strange languages? Miracles? Or was is much more? And if it was much more, what was Pentecost for? Spoiler alert! It was! Our text teaches about baptism, and, from right baptism, it teaches about the Christian life. The point this morning is: those baptized in Christ will live differently from those who are not.

If Christ is not raised, then we might as well pack up our church and go home. That’s exactly what Paul says in 1 Cor 15:14. My question this morning is even more important: What if the resurrection really did happen? What does it mean if the resurrection is true?

If we love Jesus... 1. We will let Him provide us with His peace (vs. 27). 2. We will rejoice in His return (vs. 28). 3. We will keep counting on Christ (vs. 29-31). 4. We will follow His footsteps (vs. 31).

Remember Jesus Christ... 1. Because He stood in our shoes. 2. Because He brings our greatest blessings. 3. Because He suffered for our sins.

Out of the darkness of the night, into the light of the morning – “Very early on the first day of the week … He has risen!” (Mark 16:4,6). Our new morning comes from Christ’s resurrection morning.
