Relating to those outside the faith

A clear conscience, conduct that can be copied and compassion and courage that corrects are standards of true sevants. It's faithful service, a life based on scriptures and a life lived by the Spirit that those standards come from.

For some, church is a place of fun and fancy, for others is a place of solemnity and sobriety. At the end of the day, who wins? How does God intend for his people to conduct themselves in the local church? This exposition from 1 Timothy 3:14–16 provides the surprising answer.

Philippians 1:27-30 As a Christian conducts themselves, so they conduct the gospel to the world around them. Christians then need to know how to conduct themselves in order that they may reflect Christ.

Philippians 2:12-18 The work of a Christian is not limited to simply sharing the gospel. There is very serious work to be done in the Christian's life to develop into the person God wants us to be, so as to have a greater relationship with Him and better serve Him.

Today we continue the "Credibilty Crisis", and talk about the three ways how you show your character. Showing your character is important in everyone's life; if you don't show your true character its hard for people to trust and like you as a person, and its hard for people to see you are christian.

If you are truly being built up into Christ, and if Christ is truly being formed in you, the way you live will not contradict what you say you believe. Be steadfast. Be whole. Be complete. Any claim to wisdom is ultimately tested by observable good conduct. When you look into the mirror of the law of liberty, what fruit do you see? What wisdom is revealed by your manner of life?

For those of us who come to salvation through the knowledge of the Son of God, we are light, and that means we no longer walk in darkness. The light is so powerful we become one with it. So we must walk, not in the darkness of spiritual ignorance and sin, but as children of light. The main point this morning comes straight from our text: Walk as children of light. There are four ways we do this:

We can either make life about what we want, or we can make it about what God wants for us. If we will make it about what God wants for us He will build us into someone that can serve Him. Paul tells the Colossians somethings they need to build on if they want to serve God.
