This week Pastor Alex continued the series "Graduate in the Spirit". Pastor Alex preached from Mark 5:1-20, talking about the demon possessed man in Gerasa. Pastor Alex brought forth a two-fold sermon on Deliverance. One from the perspective of the sinner and the other from the perspective of the saint. Pastor Alex said two reasons it's hard for sinners to truly get delivered. One reason is because of the environment and people they surround themselves with. The other reason is because the evil spirits on the inside are stronger than the person. The second part of the sermon dealing with the saints, Pastor Alex dealt with the question, "Why do I still feel trapped by the devil even why I'm doing everything right?" Pastor Alex then refered to Job, Paul and Silas, and Jesus Christ as examples of people who did nothing wrong, but was still trapped and imprisoned by the enemy. Listen and Be Blessed!

Luke's gospel guides us through a day in the life of Jesus at Capernaum, where we find the people amazed at the authority of His preaching and teaching and the authority by which He delivers from darkness and illness. But what's even more amazing is Jesus' compassion for those who are afflicted, showing us that Jesus can address our afflictions, because He has amazing authority and compassion for this task.

Jesus heals a demon-possessed man and restores him to his community. This is a hard story for many of us to hear. We'd rather not think about demons or impure spirits. We don't know what to do with people who are excluded by their family or society because of mental illness. We'd rather not come face-to-face with the powers that control us. But Jesus' name is powerful. Jesus crosses the sea of Galilee and confronts the powers of evil on their territory. And Jesus wins. Because he is powerful. That is scary for the people who witness Jesus' power. They'd rather send him away than see his power change everything about their lives. What about you? Come and listen!
