If past faithfulness is any indication of future trustworthiness, believers do well reflect on the track record of their God. Through this often overlooked text, this sermon serves as a corrective and support to our sometimes waning confidence in the Lord.

Hope in the Midst of Sorrow

God made many promises in the Bible. There is coming a day when we will see all of those promises fulfilled. But today, we are living between the promise and fulfillment.

You have no idea what God may do through a single seed planted in faith. This message is for anyone who has lowered their expectations about what God can do.

Hebrews 6 serves as a comprehensive guide for believers, urging them toward spiritual maturity by balancing severe warnings against apostasy with reassurances anchored in God's immutable promises, all while pointing to the ultimate fulfillment in Christ Jesus.

Most of us want to be recipients of the promises of God, but are unwilling on our part to do what is required of us. On the one hand while we cling on to what God has in store for us, there is the other part where we need to realize what God expects of us. From the above mentioned verse we infer then that no harm will come nigh anyone who has made God their refuge and are totally dependent on Him for their security.

1. Jesus came to fulfill God's promises to the Jews (vs. 8). 2. Jesus came so that all people could glorify God (vs. 8-11). 3. Jesus came to give us godly hope (vs. 12-13).

To apply the Gospel fully we must know and apply the full Gospel. We need to know all that God promises in the Gospel offer. To understand these promises we need to walk in them by abiding in Christ.

We will never receive a greater invitation. How should we respond? We must... 1. Come to Jesus Christ. 2. Serve together with our Savior. 3. Learn from our Lord. 4. Receive God's rest.

Jesus wants us to know how to pray, so He gives us: 1. The lesson of the persistent friend (vs. 5-8). 2. The lesson of God's promises (vs. 7-8). 3. The lesson of a parent's love (vs. 11-13). 4. The lesson of our Heavenly Father's perfection (vs. 13).

1. Put your trust in the Lord’s power. 2. Put your trust in the Lord's promise of eternal life. 3. Put your trust in the Lord's proof of eternal life.

Why is faith so important in my life? 1. Faith makes me a friend of God (vs. 8-9). 2. Faith moves me to follow God’s call (vs. 8-9). 3. Faith takes a firm grip on the infinite power of God (vs. 11-12). 4. Faith knows that God will fulfill His promises (vs. 9-10; 13-16).

Why do we need faith in God? 1. Faith motivates us to move for God (vs. 8-9). 2. Faith wins the fight against our fears (vs. 8-9). 3. Faith puts us in touch with God's power (vs. 11-12). 4. Faith makes us willing to wait on the Lord (vs. 9-10, 13-16).

1. Trust the Lord to comfort you. 2. Ask the Lord for more commitment to His cause. 3. Ask the Lord for the courage to do the right thing. 4. Do whatever you can to help. 5. Trust the Lord to take care of you.

1. Children: Give honor to your godly parents (vs. 1-3). 2. Parents: Help your children live godly lives (vs. 4).

When we have faith... 1. We will listen to God's warnings. 2. We will trust in God's wisdom. 3. We will start working for the Lord. 4. We will help make a difference in our world. 5. We will inherit God's righteousness.

1. Receive Jesus with hospitality (vs. 1-8). 2. Receive Jesus with hope (vs. 9-14). 3. Receive Jesus with honesty (vs. 11-15).

Even in the middle of our trials and suffering, we can know God hears us, cares for us, and is with us. We grow our faith best when we lean on God in tough times and trust His promises.

1. Look back at the Lord's faithfulness (vs. 9). 2. Admit our sinful shortcomings (vs. 10). 3. Keep trusting in God's truth (vs. 9,10,12). 4. Keep serving our Savior (vs. 10). 5. Give God the glory for the good things in your life (vs. 10). 6. Tell God about your troubles (vs. 11).
