It's Complicated
Adam • Elevate Community Church • Sermon • • 191 views • 39:13
We are sick with a disease that eats away and destroys our unique construction. What white ants are to wood buildings, sin is to our lives. Sin digs down deep into our “spirit” and takes hold, and this disease corrupts every area of life. It corrupts “our thoughts, our behaviours, our desires, and our emotions”. (Haddow, Catherine. (2017). Emotions: Mirrors of the Heart. (pg. 20). Leyland, England. 10Publishing.)

Why was Abram chosen to become Abraham and the ancestor of many nations? What did he do that warranted that type of attention from God? In short -- NOTHING. Abraham didn't warrant God's blessing, and neither do we. This story is the beginning of God dealing differently with God's people. We are chosen by God to be blessed because we exist, and because God wants us to be blessed.

Point to a healthy church and more than likely, its led by healthy leaders. But even healthy leaders can have set-backs, which can lead to stress and anxiety. If that leader’s not careful, burnout can be right around the corner. And that burnout can impact the entire congregation. How can we prevent ministry burnout? How do we restore someone who has burnt out? Today we look at the Acts account of John Mark, a leader who was burnt out but thankfully, restored.

There are many inconveniences in life. Some more frustrating than others. Looking at Mark 5 we see some of life's inconveniences, but we also see Jesus conveniently working through those inconveniences to produce stronger character, stronger faith, stronger Christians.

John 2021-2022
Jason Stuart Percy • Refuge TLH • Sermon • • 19 views • 1:09:59
We humans are all dead in our trespasses and sins. We have no life in us. It is the effectual call of Jesus, the giver and sustainer of life, that revives and enables us to trust Him. He cares not about the way of our traditions, especially those we use to put ourselves above others and to neglect our acts of service and charity (love) to our neighbor. We are those who excuse ourselves from obedience for myriads of reasons, all of which we excuse in ourselves and condemn in others. What hypocrites we are! True life, eternal life, is in the Father and in the Son, Jesus. He gives life to whomever He wills. Let us be those who diligently search the sscriptures, that we might know God as He reveals Himself through the prophets and apostles. But... let us not stop with having knowledge... let us go on to commune with Jesus, let us respond to Him, let us come to Him... and find life. These thoughts were shared by Jason Stuart Percy at Refuge TLH in Tallahasee, FL on Sunday, December 5, 2021

John 2021-2022
Jason Stuart Percy • Refuge TLH • Sermon • • 7 views • 1:14:21
It's okay to be sad. Jesus and His Kingdom message are true even if you don't feel anything. Jesus speaks the truth without all the modern hype. We're deceived by trying to live from dopamine rush to dopamine rush and calling that 'spiritual life'. The Father is seeking those who will worhip Him in Spirit and truth. Worship is not a type of song. It is not necessarily singing songs at all. Workship is bowing yourself down to something. Bowing down, in your heart, to someone or something, is workship. Jesus is able to save the sick, yes, but when should He stop? When would it be okay for Him to let someone you love die. Does death matter? Does life matter? If there is eternal life, if there is resurrection, then it matters more than we seem to think. These thoughts shared by Jason Stuart Percy at Refuge TLH in Tallahassee, FL on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
