Jesus and the Kangaroo Court

Jesus goes on trial before the Sanhedrin where they mock and beat Him.

In Mark 14, a fascinating truth is revealed about the New Covenant brought forth through the blood of Christ. As Jesus and His disciples prepare for a Passover Seder together we see Christ's work as a prophet being revealed before their very eyes. Additionally, we see when coupled with Hebrews 9 that Christ's blood cleanses us of our sin and atones us, additionally, we see that in order to inaugurate a New Covenant as Christ Himself embodies, we see that blood is required- thus Christ on Calvary

In Mark 14-15, the believers are seen to abandon Messiah. Even His closest followers are scattered as the Shepherd is progressively led to the cross. Jewish leaders and Roman rulers, as well as the common people all cry, “Crucify Him.” Follow Mark’s account as the cross is experienced, and find the call to faithfully stand with the Master as we await His return.

Mark 14 continues through the completion of the last week of the Master’s life. With the cross before Him, He willingly subjects Himself to betrayal, abandonment, a corrupt court and humiliation at the hands of a roman cohort. The time of crucifixion approaches as we follow the Master to His execution.
