Love is Exclusive: Enter the Narrow Gate
Jesus offers the “Golden Rule” as the summary of the Law and the Prophets. The essence of this rule is love, which cannot be perfectly fulfilled without God radically changing our hearts. Truly loving others begins with loving God, and love is, by nature, exclusive. It is no wonder then that Jesus speaks of a narrow way which leads to life, while all other ways lead to destruction. We must rest in God’s grace by entering this narrow gate, which is Jesus Himself.

If we are not careful, there comes a time in our desire to live Christ-honoring lives when we establish rules to live by that may be helpful, but are not scriptural mandates. What happens from time to time is churches might take an application of a biblical principle and make it the biblical principle.…

Murder. anger, pride, selfishness all have malice in common. These sins and many more cut the heart off from pure motives focused on the Lord. Our prayer today is that as you listen to this message, you lay any burdens down that are holding you back from a life of freedom in Christ and a heart that is set aside only for God. Only God can take a dirty heart and make it clean.

Last week we began a series on the Book of Matthew. My message pointed to Jesus as the Messiah. It is important that we understand Jesus as being the Messiah. Intro Last week we looked briefly at the Beatitudes and learnt what we referred to as the soundtrack of our lives. The rhythms and lyrics to the song our lives sing are wrapped up in those verses. The big takeaway from hearing those Beatitudes is that we hear that we have been called by God to be called…

(The video shown at the end was of color blind people viewing color for the first time through Enchroma Glasses. The illustration shows what it's like when we allow Christ to shine through our lives to others.)

Jesus' words in the sermon on the mount were counter cultural during His time. They continue to be counter coultural, yet we are to live by His words, still today. Today we look at Matthew 5:5 and discover that though the world says meekness is weakness, Jesus says the opposite is true. Meekness is power in control, but what does that look like? Find out in this sermon...
