The Nicene Creed, as other ecumenical creeds, was developed to define the Christian faith when false teaching was dividing the church. Jude writes with a motivation to act as a watchman, caring for his beloved brothers and sisters. He's observed a perversion of God's grace by those who believe this grace gives them license to embrace sexual sin. By doing so they are denying our Lord Jesus Christ and are not recipients of God's true saving grace. Jude exhorts believers to contend for the faith
