17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous…

As the new year comes to the people of Renew, what does it mean to us? Is the New Year just another year? Or do we look forward to God doing a new work in our hearts, and in the hearts of those around us? And why is the idea of "new" such a big part of Christianity, anyway? Are we just consumers in disguise, or is there some deeper reason? Let's dig a little and figure this out!

THE WAR INSIDE Therefore, did what is good become death to me? Absolutely not! But, sin, in order to be recognized as sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment, sin might become sinful beyond measure. The problem must be recognized in order to be fixed. Have…

In the great banquet each invited guest at the second invitation ignores the interests of the host and instead focuses on his own interests. The host then excludes them and instead invites the despised of the city (Jews) and the more despised outside the city (gentiles). Paul points to our getting ready for the banquet by “putting to death” the vices of the gentiles and then also the vices of the Jews and many Christians so as to but on Christ (the full baptismal picture) leading to divinization. While this does not demand instant perfection, it does demand a calling out for virtue and a clothing ourselves by grace with Christ’s nature so that we will be ready to come with him in glory.

Introduction Throughout Scripture there are multiple ways that we are introduced to the idea of salvation and deliverance. This is no surprise, as the Gospel is rooted in salvation. Jesus says, “when you fast”, not “if you fast.” When he spoke these words to his disciples, he assumed that they would fast. Jesus never said, “Don’t fast!” He said, “Don’t fast like the hypocrites, who do it only to get attention and be seen. They walk around with pained expressions on their faces;…

As Christians we're told in Scripture that we have been given the mind of Christ... but it also tells us that we must renew our new mind every day in God's Word. Our minds are the battleground upon which our old nature & new nature wage war against one another. This war intensifies when we suffer. In 1 Peter 4:1-5 we're given 4 ways to test & examine our mindset... & called upon to arm ourselves with the THINKING of the suffering, righteous, & holy Son of God until He returns in final judgment.
