Christians have often been called a people of the Book. This because we are known for being devoted to the Scriptures. Why are Christians so faithful to the Word? What is Scripture suppose to accomplish in our lives? Paul teaches us why the Word is so valuable in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. This passage reminds us that the Word is supposed to be profiting in our lives.

The true “profit” that the wise may receive and that will one day make sense of all of life’s “puzzles” is not to be found in this life “under the sun.” It is to be found in “eternity."

God has high expectations, but also provides the means of attaining them. It is not about earthly profit that Jesus is concerned with. It is risk-taking discipleship.

It is not that the pursuit of wisdom is completely pointless or useless. Wisdom has many advantages and can result in many positive outcomes. But… If your pursuit of wisdom is in order to find life’s ultimate “profit” or “advantage” or “value,” then your pursuit is misguided and will ultimately leave you disappointed.

A Bible Study of Ecclesiastes 2:12-26

The things we choose to do for ourselves have no value compared to the things we choose to do for God and His kingdom.

Life keeps moving. Round and round it goes. Where can we find ultimate meaning and significance if there is nothing really new and we are so quickly forgotten? This ultimate meaning and signficance cannot be found ‘under the sun.’ it must be found in eternity with our Creator.

As Christians, we are assured that our Lord is over all and will accomplish His purposes according to His plan.
