Jesus’ purpose in coming to earth was to to go to the cross. You might think that Jesus’ goal was the cross, but there was another goal beyond that one - to glorify God. Jesus showed us the goodness and beauty of God against the backdrop of His own suffering and death. Now our goal is to reflect the same.‌ As we walk through these chapters, we will be paying close attention to how Jesus glorified God and how we can glorify God.

Jesus is worthy of God's glory: 1. Because of His purity (vs. 1). 2. Because of His power (vs. 1-3). 3. Because of His performance (vs. 4-5).

First, Jesus prayed for Himself. Then He prayed for His followers. Notice how the Lord prayed for us: 1. Jesus prayed for our protection (vs. 11-15). 2. Jesus prayed for our sanctification (vs. 16-17; 19). 3. Jesus prayed for our mission (vs. 18).

The Lord finished the work God the Father gave Him to do: 1. Jesus glorified God the Father (vs. 4). 2. Jesus revealed God's name (vs. 6). 3. Jesus declared God's Word (vs. 6-8).

1. Jesus prayed for us to have full harmony (vs. 11; 20-23) 2. Jesus prayed about our future home (vs. 24). 3. Jesus prayed about our full hearts (vs. 25-26).

God wants us to pray like Jesus prayed: 1. Make prayer a rich part of your routine. 2. Pray with the same kind of care we see in Christ. 3. Pray with full faith in the Father.
