Jesus responds again to a question of him being the Living Bread by the scribes and Pharisees. This time, Jesus goes much more in depth into what he means about eating his flesh and drinking his blood. This is the way to eternal life. What exactly is Jesus talking about when he says these things? We will go into a deep-dive into our theology around the Eucharist.

The three passages present three points: Jesus was accredited by God as Messiah (for in the first and last than in 1 Peter, addressed to gentiles), Jesus was executed by the Jewish leaders with the help of the Romans but this was by divine plan and (especially in 1 Peter) to rescue us from our “futile conduct” thought a Passover sacrifice leading to a new Exodus, and that he was raised by God and is seated at God’s right hand as the judge of the living and the dead, accepting our allegiance now so that we need not meet him as judge in the final judgment. This is his self-giving as resurrected Lord in the Eucharist, which we hopefully see with our spiritual “eyes”, but do we make it central to our proclamation.

The Lord's Supper is not an occasion for boasting, arguing, or division. The Lord's Supper is a time of remembering the work of Christ by faith. His physical body is not present in or with the elements, but He is present with us always as He promised. As we remember his broken body and poured out blood by faith in the Lord's Supper, we have a taste of Heaven where we will experience the fulness of His presence forever.
