Paul would not believe Christ and persecuted His followers. But God poured out His grace upon him and saved him...as an example of God's patient mercy in Christ.
Prayer is a necessity for a healthy Christian! This portion of Ezra displays the importance and the nature of prayer. Though, Ezra was a skilled man he did not trust in his own abilities, rather he puts his faith in the Almighty God. May we humbly realize the desperate need to do the same.

It is so gives us examples of saints who pray and get the ear of God, for our encouragement and instruction, and for God's glory. Nehemiah 1 is such an example.

Paul's instruction and encouragement to Timothy is equally applicable to us in this time and age. We are to fight the good fight, to trust the Lord, and to listen to our conscience. Be encouraged by the Word of God to keep on fighting.
