Luke 5:1-11

Jesus does the same thing with every person who puts their faith in him and chooses to trust him with their life. First Jesus calls them to follow him, and then he sends them out on mission. We articulate this as a church family by saying we are sent to love people and invite them to follow Jesus with us. In Exodus 3 we see Jesus call Moses to follow him (from a burning bush), then send him to Pharaoh to rescue the people of Israel, and finally Jesus promises to go with him as Moses obeys.

Have you ever wondered what God is calling you to do? Is God calling you to do anything? The calling of God can be mysterious because it is spiritual in nature. But the ramifications of you calling can echo through the entire world. My hope today, is to help you live in expectation and realization of God's calling on you.

Why do we spend the time, effort, and money to go to other places when the need is so great right here at home? I’ve even had people ask, “Why don’t we just send the money to them instead of putting ourselves in harms way?” My answer was: “Because God told me to go.” ‌ I have since come to understand God’s heart on the matter, which provides a much better explanation. Money can never replace the love relationship one experiences when we are together. If sharing our money with people was the goal, then going makes no sense, but if sharing my soul with others is the goal, I must go in person.
