We must "test the spirits" in every area before diving in too deep. Political candidates, social movements, entertainment. The Pharisees and Sadducees pushed ahead based on their gut feelings... they didn't test the spirits. The test: is this bringing glory to the Son? Anything in your life that you shouldn't be doing: run away from it now-- it may seem harmless like a lamb, but it's really a murderous dragon in disguise. Satan glorifies himself, and delights in our downfall.

While the Argumentum ad Populum is indeed a fallacy, it is a very powerful one. The appeal of the safety of the majority is hard to resist. But let us never forget that the temporal safety of the majority does not equate to the eternal safety of the truth.
