Why is the world such an ugly place? Oh, we know that there are bright spots, beautiful places, incredible experiences. But death and destruction have been with us for a long time. How can we find the strength to stand? We must: 1. Remember that Jesus is the source of our strength (vs. 10). 2. Recognize our real enemy (vs. 11-12). 3. Apply God's armor (vs. 11, 13-17).

We must: 1. Watch out for the devil's deception (vs. 11-15). 2. Focus on following the Lord (vs. 16). 3. Keep worshiping the Lord (vs. 17a).

Look how easily Jesus does things. He lifts up Peter’s mother-in-law by the hand and she’s well, fevered no more. He says “Go” and demons go. It’s not some epic struggle. There isn’t dragged-out tension and drama as we wonder if Jesus or the demon will win. Christ doesn’t shout, “My power compels you”…
