Jesus tells us that before impulsively deciding to follow him, we must count the cost: renouncing all that we have. But we must also consider the benefits, and Paul identifies four central benefits for us here.

We continue with the topic of Church membership, specifically continuing the benefits of church membership. One of the benefits of church membership that is most often overlooked is the care and discipline of the Church. With that topic comes the question of how the church is to be governed, and what the leadership of the church is supposed to look like. Church discipline was so important to the Reformers during the reformation that they called it one of the defining marks of the church.
