1 Timothy 4:7 We are instructed to fast. Three purposes to fast; one-hunger for God over all other things, two-confession and repentance, and three- guidance and direction. Fasting is an intergral part of our training in discipline. Don't get distracted. Remember the goal. Don't give up on the training!

Ever been let down by expectations? In Jesus' day, the expectations various groups had concerning the messiah went a long ways in how they reacted to Jesus. Our expectations are not let down by God's promises of heaven and eternity! (NOTE: Microphone issues during this lesson, a few short cutouts in the audio.)

When God does not meet your expectations, which way will you go? What will you choose to do or believe when life gets tough or when your belief system crumbles? If we take an honest look at the expectations many first century Jews had for the Messiah King, we can see what they were thinking when Pilot tried to release Jesus. What about our own hearts?
