Book of Luke
Pastor George Coon • ELBC • Sermon • • 11 views • 34:58
Luke 9:1-17 We are called to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ. As we are sent into different walks of life, God then enables us to fulfill His will where He sends us. As we work to do the will of God we will see Him enabe, empower, and provide all that we need.
What stories do we tell ourselves about people who are different from us? Here's a true story: God has created all people - each person - in His own image, with a purpose for the good of humanity. God has sent each of us out into the world to share His message of truth with everyone we meet, regardless of our differences. And just like the 72 messengers Jesus sent out, we go out with nothing to lose: we have a message to share, but we are not superior in God's eyes because we know the truth. We are equals among all our neighbors. When we live at peace with everyone, we are able to receive and give freely from each other. God wants us to see the value in everyone as God's special treasure ... and share His message with everyone in love and in peace.
Instead of simply taking us out of the world, Jesus left His followers in it to change it. In this message by Pastor Mason Phillips discover how you are an important part of bringing change and transformation to the world.

As we present the Gospel we need to be able to adapt how we preach the good news to those we are presenting it to. We never change the Gospel, but we may need to change how we present it.

Passage: Acts 6:8-8:3. This week, Aaron teaches on how Stephen's life, message, and death proclaim the gospel, and how we should do the same. Not to be like Stephen, but to be like Jesus.
John the Baptist, being the greatest man born of woman, preached a simple, one-word message of repentance because Jesus Christ was about to begin his public ministry. He was preparing the way for the King! From this text we learn about 3 features of Jesus’s forerunner so that the lost among us might be saved and that believers would be better evangelists.

Read Luke 1:1-4: Our theme this morning is: It matters what you believe. A neighbor asks Henry’s mother, “Where’s Henry?” “I’m not sure,” she replies. “If the ice is as thick as he thinks -- he’s skating. If it’s as thin as I think it is -- he’s swimming.” The point is it matters what you believe. There…
