Paul shares that he is encouraged by the peoples' faith in Jesus Christ. Because of ministry commitments elsewhere, he cannot be physically present with the brethren but stresses that being together is paramount for the Church.

Paul wastes no time. Within two verses the theme of the entire book of Romans is presented. A line is drawn in the sand and the bar is raised; man indeed is radically depraved and the power of God is revealed through the salvation of all who believe in this message.

Paul continues to deal with two main issues: Election and Rejection. There is a right way and a wrong way to react to these issues. The wrong way is to blame God and accuse Him of injustice, while the correct way is to submit to His wisdom as displayed through His Sovereign election. In this sermon, we discuss God's Sovereign Choice and how it should impact the way we think as believers.

There is a great trial taking place. The evidence presented is not opinion or ideas but the very Word of God. In this sermon, we look at how the apostle Paul called upon Old Testament Scripture to show the reality of how radical corruption affects all men. To which the only remedy is Jesus Christ.

Much like the Jewish teachers of the first century, the Christian not only has access to the oracles of God revealed through Holy Scripture, but are called to obey them and use them to lead others to the wonderful salvation found in Jesus Christ alone. Let us then hold to them, and teach them to a lost and dying world.

Confidence in the external things and man-made traditions is toxic. Paul explains that true circumcision is of the heart. No 'good' works done in the flesh can ever substitute for the greatest free gift of all - justification through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Suffering is promised to the Christian. There is suffering because of the fallen state of humanity in general, and also because of a Christian's obedience to the commands of the King, Who the world hates. The same King Whose promises provide a Great Hope for the Christian but great trembling to those who oppose Him.

There are those who are slaves to sin and there are those who are slaves to Righteousness. One produces bad fruit, while the other produces good fruit. Have you ever stopped to analyze yourself to see what kind of fruit you are producing? To whom do you belong?

When we place white letters on a black background there is a contrast that takes place which is clearly evident. As is the case when we contrast the fallen nature of Adam, the first man, with the redemption and reconciliation purchased through Jesus Christ, the second man and last Adam.

Paul zeros in on the main issue; failing to understand that Christ is the fulfillment of all things. Therefore, it is Christ alone Who corrects the foolish and rescues the blind.

We begin our journey through Paul's Systematic Theology laid out through the Book of Romans. No other book of Scripture aside from the Gospel of John does such a complete job in outlining the sinfulness of man and revealing the marvellous grace of God.

Many ask the wrong question when it comes to the 'why', 'what' and 'how' God acts. Often, those questions become accusatory and there is a demand made that the infinite God Who is Holy and wise, must conform to the understanding of the finite who is sinful and selfish. This week, we tackle this and more as we look at Romans 9:12-16.

There is a big difference between setting one's mind on the flesh and the Spirit. One brings decay and death, while the other brings peace and life. Why is it that so many professing Christians choose to fulfill their flesh when they are told to set their minds on the things of the Spirit?

The better we understand the reality of our union with Jesus Christ, the better we understand that sin has been put to death in us. We rest in the truth that we indeed have newness in life.

If we ever need evidence of God's love toward us, we need only to look to Calvary to see the greatest expression of love imaginable. Jesus Christ in full obedience, to the praise and glory of the Father, paid in full our debt so that we may have reconciliation with God.

There is a big difference between having the peace of God and being at peace with God. Both are important, but one will forever change the Christian's mind about the concept of suffering.

In this message, we look at the reality that because Christians are bound to Jesus Christ, they are no longer bound by the Law. But that doesn't mean that sin should abound - by no means!

Many people forget that 'adoption' is not just a doctrine, but a term used to legally pronounce someone as a child belonging to another - with all rights and privileges as biological offspring. In this sermon, we discuss the great joy of walking in the Spirit and how our justification through faith in Christ establishes our glorious adoption as sons and daughters of The Most High God.

We often feel that as long as we stay uninformed, we will not be responsible for what lies ahead. In this sermon, we look at the reality that God will judge everyone perfectly and that ignorance does not provide anyone with deniability before His throne of judgement. Those who have read and heard the law as well as those who have seen it revealed throughout creation will all be subject to God's impartial judgement. Unless they are awakened through the gift of faith.

Believers are saved only because of God's grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. To be living in known sin while judging others for those very same sins is hypocrisy. All sin will be dealt with by God including that of the hypocrites.

Christians often struggle with the tension of being dead to sin and the failure of being sinless in their lives. Though we will sin while on our pilgrimage, the more we understand our union with God through the finished work of Jesus Christ, the less appealing sin will become as we become more and more conformed to His image.

The doctrine of justification through faith is a source of unspeakable joy. What better example than to look at Abraham? Who trusted the covenant promise of God which was passed down and celebrated throughout Israel. The same promise that is celebrated by the modern-day Church today. In both eras, looking toward Jesus Christ, the source of our redemption.

We continue to travel through Romans chapter 10, and once again look at the contrast between righteousness through faith and righteousness through works of the Law. Before being too hard on Israel for not seeing it, we must be mindful that many today are just as blind.

Israel had complete access to the Scriptures which revealed that the Messiah was coming to save them and all (without distinction) nations of the earth - yet they were blind. They rejected the truth for their feeling of privilege, and sadly many in the church today do the same. How do we overcome this? By getting our noses back into the Scriptures and unpacking the truth.
