The Coming of the Holy Spirit
Ruel Guerrero • Grace Communion Las Vegas • Sermon • • 44 views • 30:36
When the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, the disciples did not actually know what to expect. They only knew what Jesus said, that the gift would come and that power from the Holy Spirit would be given. Much to everyone's surprise, the Spirit came like a whirlwind and fire with the disciples all speaking in tongues. Those who spoke against the work of the Spirit did not understand the Holy Spirit. The gift is the Holy Spirit and He has given us power for Christ's mission.

The wait for the promised Holy Spirit was over: Jesus had told the disciples to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and on the day of Pentecost, the wait was over! Now believers would have the Holy Spirit and His power living in them forever. (Lk. 24:49; Jn.14:16) 1 When the…

Pentecost Many of us come from a classical Pentecostal background. This simply means that in church history, at least that of the 20th century our denominational influences were those of groupings that sprung out of the Azusa Street, Topeka, Kansas, and Houston, Texas revivals. The word Pentecostal comes…
