The Law, being in nature holy, righteous, good, and spiritual, is above all good and necessary for salvation!

It is vital that we understand the main thrust of the last half of Romans 7 being the final vindication of the Law, that its purpose is to drive us continually to Christ Jesus.

How can a Law which is holy and righteous and good bring about my death? Paul squarely addresses and resolves this seeming contradiction in Romans 7:!3.

The only way to realize, to truly understand the truth and nature of ourselves, is through the Law’s illumination of our deficiencies, by its holding up the view of His perfect holiness and righteousness in its commands, and in this it is utterly good for us!

Paul declares that the deception of sin in our lives is a very clear and present reality that each one of us must face, so much so that it takes the Law which was to lead to life and turns it into a death sentence.

Paul is going on in verse 9 to work out for us the implications and particulars of how the principles given in verse 7 and 8 work out for us, in a remarkably personal manner, his own personal testimony.
