Jesus Is the Only Way to Heaven, John 13:21-14:9.

Jesus is preparing His disciples for His death [departure].

[John 13:34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another]. Jesus gave them a new commandment: love one another. This is the supernatural love of Jesus. Christians love one another.

13:36-38: Peter’s desire to follow Jesus. There was nothing wrong with Peter’s desire, but he was not ready. Peter was going to get reminded of his weakness.

14:1-3: Words of comfort to His disciples.

14:5: Thomas’ desire was to know the way to heaven. Jesus let him know that He is the way.

[John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me]. To go to heaven Jesus is the only way. Salvation is in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way to God because He is the Truth.

14:8: Philip wanted Jesus to show him the Father. Philip did not know that when he looked at Jesus that He was the only one that displayed the Father. The disciples should have known the way. We have short memories--like Peter and the other disciples.

John 14:9: Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

John 1:18: No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 12:45: And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
