The Beauty of Evangelism
Introduction: Do you have beautiful feet? The Bible tells us in Romans 10:15, “Beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of Peace!”
I’m preaching to you right now and I promise my feet are not beautiful in appearance!!
In fact, feet are some of the least attractive parts of the human body!
There is a lot of people in the world that spend a lot of time and money on their feet to look beautiful. There is a lot of men and woman who love to go get pedicures where they get their toenail cleaned up and remove all the dead skin from the feet, so they look beautiful.
Some of us however need a spiritual pedicure!
A lot of women also like to get their toenails painted with all different kinds of designs to make their feet look pretty. But how do we determine what is beautiful??
I read a quote, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” We all see different things as beautiful, while a guy might thing that a big buck, of trophy catfish is beautiful. A woman might say a Consuela or Louis Vuitton purse is beautiful. But mankind bases their beauty on things they can see with their own eyes.
A lot of people we read in Scripture who were beautiful in appearance were very wicked people like Absalom, Herodias, Jezebel, Saul, and many others.
In Isaiah 53:2 we read of prophesy of Jesus where there is no beauty that we should desire. But people would be moved to Him for his love, compassion, message.
Today we are going to look at three things.
First, Beautiful Feet will carry you with the Power of the Gospel.
Second, Beautiful Feet Leads Sinners to the Gate.
Finally, Beautiful Feet Obey the Head!
Thesis: The world looks at beauty as something which can be seen with the eyes; but God teaches us that beauty will be seen in a person as we practice our Good Works.
I. Beautiful Feet will carry you with the Power of the Gospel.
a. First example we see of Beautiful in NT. In A bad way!
b. Mat 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
c. Beautiful In a good way!
d. Rom 10:15 “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
e. Isa 52:7 “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!”
i. Could you imagine Isaiah feet walking up and down mountains preaching to the people. They were probably calyst over, yet God says his feet are beautiful.
ii. When we take the Gospel to the lost; that is the only thing that God mentions is beautiful that we can do. It of course is not the outside appearance because those taking the Gospel probably have rough feet, but it’s the good works we do with those feet.
iii. We all know people who are lost in this world, weather it be friends, family, coworker or neighbor. We must always be ready to take them the Gospel.
iv. Isaiah was able to predict, more than 700 years before the fact, the glorious, good news of the gospel. That grand old story is one that never grows old to those who love it!”
v. Eph 6:15 “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”
vi. The Gospel brings peace between man and God. Brings us all together in one body of unity Ephesians 4:4-5
vii. The world is always striving to have world peace, the Gospel brings enemy nations together in one. Like Paul said there is no difference between the Jew and Greek. The Gospel brings us together. People that hate each other can become brothers and sisters in Christ through the Gospel.
Luke 8:21, “And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.”
viii. The person who takes the Gospel to the Lost has Beautiful feet in Gods eyes.
II. Beautiful Feet Leads Sinners to the Gate.
a. Acts 3:1-10
i. Vs 2 Gate of the Temple called Beautiful! This beggar was carried their daily. Acts 2:46 we see the first century church would continue daily with one accord in the Temple. Wouldn’t it be beautiful to gather with the saints every day and praise God still??
ii. The one thing the beggar needed was God!
iii. The people would walk by this man daily.
iv. Peter told the man he did not have money but gives him something better than money can buy.
v. Notice the beggar’s reaction, he was not only walking. He was leaping, and praising God.
vi. The people recognized him they only saw him every day as they would walk right past him!
vii. Vs. 10 They knew it was the beggar who set at the beautifulGate.
viii. Jesus says in Joh 10:9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
ix. When our beautiful feet lead people to Jesus, we lead them to the gate so that they might be saved and have eternal life.
x. Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
xi. Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
III. Beauty Feet Obey the Head.
a. How would you feel if you told your feet to walk and they didn’t move?? Be scary!! You be mad.
b. Col 1:18 Jesus “is the head of the body, the church”
c. Look at Mark 12:29-34 The Great commandment.
d. However, let’s look at someone who did not obey!
e. in 1 Samuel chapter 15:2-3 God commands Saul to go wipe out the Amalekites and ALL they had.
f. Look at 1 Samuel 15:13-23, l.
g. How can we apply this to us today?
i. Like Saul was given command, so are we!!!!!
1. Go ye into all the world.
ii. When we are facing the judgement- what will our family be saying in background????
iii. Will we be there with excuses like Saul:
1. I went to church every Sunday.
2. I gave upon the first day of every week
3. I did good works- I fed the poor, helped the widow, and fatherless!
iv. Will Jesus be able to tell us Well done……… OR depart from Me…
v. Part of obeying God is obeying ALL his commands. One of those is:
h. Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
i. That means we are not to pick the soil. Not base souls by wealth, social status, or anything else.
ii. Means those on the other side of the tracks need the Gospel.
iii. All in Fruitvale, All Edgewood, All Grand Saline>> All Van Zandt County, all surrounding counties. All Texas, All of America, All the World.
look at Matt 28:18-20,
iv. Matt 28:18 “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. “
a. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
b. Ye!! Means go me, go we,
c. Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
II. WE NEED TO HAVE THE ATTITUDE Isaiah had!!! When the Lord questioned Isaiah who shall go and preach!
a. Isa 6:8 Isaiah said “Here am I; send me.”
b. Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
c. Isa 6:11 “Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate.”
d. In other words, God told Isaiah he was going to preach until he died and not going to have a very good conversion rate as many would not understand.
e. We may not always be successful in teaching the Gospel to all but we must give it our all till we die. There is no retirement in teaching the Gospel of Peace.
f. Jesus tells us if we follow Him not only will we be fishers of men but in Luke 5:10 Jesus says Fear not for you shall be catchers of men. Many people are scared to go fishing because have had bad experience of not catching. Jesus says we will be successful if we stick to the pattern.
g. You think about it God has laid us the perfect plan of teaching others. Some people make attempts to change the plan by thinking they will try all these other ways to grow the church. Man has made many schemes, but in the end faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Without faith from hearing the Word there is no saving people! Stick to Gods plan!
Conclusion: Beautiful is the Word of God.
Beautiful is the man with a Heart like David, one after Gods own Heart. To be a man after Gods own heart, if we have that kind of heart, we will love our neighbors as thyself like the great commandment.
Beautiful feet will also lead us to do good works for others, where people can truly see we care.
People don’t care how much you know till they see how much you care! Just like people were not attracted to Jesus for His looks but for His compassion and love for the people.
You want to teach your friends and family the Gospel is easy when they can see you are living a life like Christ. Ask yourselves can Christ be seen in your life by sinners? If we truly are living like Christ, we will be doing His mission to seek and save the lost.
The Lord has given us marching orders!! We must continue those orders, after all that’s how we have salvation today! Are you fulfilling those marching orders? You have the baton in your hand!!!!!!!
Matt 4:4 “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Today we saw how First, Beautiful feet will carry you with the Power of the Gospel.
Second, How Beautiful Feet leads sinners to the Gate.
Finally, How Beautiful Feet Obey the Head! Is your heart prepared right now for a lesson with a sinner.
Everyone who has beautiful feet are prepared to always take the Gospel. We must always stand ready, because we never know when some one will reach out to us who is facing struggles in their lives.
Maybe you have friend, family or someone who loses a loved one; maybe someone facing depression or suicidal thoughts.
These are great opportunities to teach someone the truth that can set them free. But we must be always prepared for these opportunities. We must always have our tackle box ready to go.
Tackle Box!!
Call to action: If you are not equipped with beautiful feet than why tarriest thou, Arise and come get some free Bible studies.
Because Brethren that is what is beautiful in the eyes of God is when we obey Him in taking the Gospel to the Lost.
