Their Commitment to the Truth (19-22)

A contrast of commands: The command to keep silent or the command to make disciples. The command of the legal authorities or the command of Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
When man’s law contradicts God’s command we must obey God.
They reminded the religious leaders that they will give an account to God.
They stated that they would continue to testify of the truth.

Their Confidence in the Lord (23-31)

Prayer is confidently approaching God on the basis of His PERSON and PROMISES.
Their Address
When the world attacks you for doing God’s will, make your request to the Lord of the whole Earth. The Sovereign of the Universe.
“O Lord” - the word for sovereign master. The religious rulers may have thought they were in control, but it the Lord who is over all
Their confidence was based on who God is (Adrian Rogers):
They saw God as Creator of all things. There is nothing outside of His dominion. When you are facing trials, persecution, or hardship, remember that the Lord is Creator of all the Earth. There is nothing too difficult for Him.
They saw God as Controller of all things. The kings of the earth gathered together against the Lord and His Christ, but they have not conquered Christ! They
They saw God as the Conqueror of all things.
Their Request
Lord, take note of our situation!
Lord, give us boldness!
Lord, act for your glory!
The Results
God answered their prayer with both physical and spiritual power.

Their Common Purpose (32-37)

They were One in spirit. (32)
They saw one another as united in Christ.
John 17:22-23 “The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”
They were One in service. (33)
They were One in stewardship. (34-37)
Application: What is your need? Come confidently before the throne of Grace. Ask the Lord to give you strength and act for His glory through your life.
