REVELATION - The Kingdom and 7 Churches part 1
SLIDE 1 “7 CHURCHES OF REVELATION”
Imagine being selected by the Lord to write the book of Revelation
John did get to witness the transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 17:1)
He was known as one of the two son’s of thunder (Luke 9:54) Jesus gives name “Boerneges”
Very interesting John’s brother James was the first to be put to death (Acts 12) take a look at this since we are in Revelation “the kingdom and 7 churches”
SLIDE 2
Acts 12:1–2 (NASB95)
1 Now about that time Herod the king laid hands on some who belonged to the church in order to mistreat them.
2 And he had James the brother of John put to death with a sword.
SLIDE 3
Acts 12:3 (NASB95)
3 When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. Now it was during the days of Unleavened Bread.
SLIDE 4
Acts 12:4–5 (NASB95)
4 When he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out before the people.
5 So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.
The Lord has really laid on my heart to stay focused about this kingdom and churches
SLIDE 5 “7 CHURCHES OF REVELATION”
Going to keep intertwining or weaving in to Revelation 7 churches and kingdom of God
We just saw in Acts the response of the church as Peter was imprisoned
As we started seeing last week the kingdom of God or kingdom of Heaven Jesus taught in many parable stories
Remember looking up in the Greek definition (basilea) is not the actual eternal heaven but his church age kingdom (preparation for the eternal)
Kingdom has prepared and unprepared / saved and unsaved
As we saw in Acts story the church coming together / encourage to be a part of a church ministry / encourage each other to be a part.
Why do I encourage that? Kingdom saved / unsaved right
to be a part of these ministries we have to make time for the Lord right? Just like for church, the Lord gives that time back ......and touches you.....glad you went.....how much more you enjoy lunch on Sunday.....amen?
When we don’t give those times to the Lord who usually gets the time? Alot of the time anyway? the world out there
What part of the Kingdom of God or Heaven do you think that is? Saved or Unsaved?
What influence does the world out there have on us? What influence do the church ministries have on us?
If we want to bring as many into the kingdom of God as we can....cause remember after the church age here in Revelation is removed we will see what those left on this earth will have to go through......plus those who die without knowing the Lord before the church gets called home.
Remember sometimes your greatest testimony to bring others into the kingdom is for the lost to see you are active in His kingdom. They see a difference and want to be a part.
The kingdom of God or kingdom of Heaven is the church age and preparation and if we can get those we care about through these doors.....since its saved and unsaved ....we just got them in an atmosphere to come to know the Lord and prepare for eternity
That’s why it’s important to make time to be a part of the ministries here at The Road Church......look how just a change of one letter in that word or words makes things
SLIDE 6
a part of ministry ( a piece or segment of something)
apart from ministry (separated by distance)
This doesn’t mean volunteering to do church work
Alright John encounters the Lord Jesus in Revelation chapter 1....in the Spirit
SLIDE 7 “7 CHURCHES OF REVELATION”
told to write these things to the angels of the seven churches
John fell at his feet like a dead man as he experienced seeing Jesus in His glory and might
SLIDE 8 “JESUS AMONG THE LAMPSTAND”
like the son of man / clothed in a robe with a gold sah across the chest / hair white like wool like snow / eyes like a flame of fire / feet like burnished brass like glowing in a furnace / voice of many waters / sharp two edge sword out of His mouth / face shining like the sun in all its strength
Jesus in this vision walking among the seven churches (observes and knows their deeds)
For the churches of Asia minor close to 90 AD and to this day still the church age and to this day for the present day church....why because we will soon see in Revelation the church age will end and events on this earth to take place after.
Seven stars in His hand are the seven angels for each of the seven churches represented by each of the seven lamps
SLIDE 9
Revelation 1:20 (NASB95)
20 “As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
