The Result of Holiness 22-25

Cleaned and purified soul.

To understand this we have to put a few parts of this passage together.

As obedient children what are we called to do? Not to conform to old passion instead be Holy

What do we need to hope in fully to do this? The future promise and grace we will recieved when Jesus comes back

Biblically speaking what are old passions? Pride and self centeredness. We place our hope and treasure getting things that feed our old flesh.

Biblically speaking what is holiness? Being set apart for God’s purposes and being like him.

When we are living for God (holy living) and not ourselves (old passion) how will we treat others? We love others with a pure sincere love.

What old passion are getting in the way of living a holy life where we love others from a pure heart?

Because our new birth real and lasting 23

Our new birth is real and lasting.

Who caused our new birth? 1:3 Now in verse 23 what did God use to cause our new birth? “Living and abiding word of God”

We live in a world of living things. But you know nothing in this life and world is forever. (Mom and Dad’s trip to Rome. It is no more)

Everything fades but not God’s word that is in you remains for all eternity.

We started this passage with looking to future eternity for hope and ended it on seeing God’s eternal Word creating in us a new heart to love others.

So how can we be holy in an unholy would?

We hope in Christ return and God’s promises as we strive for holiness.

We remember that God has already planned out and bought our holiness.

We are bring purified in our heart to love others because of holiness.
