INTRODUCTION - Finding a cool feature in a home that you want to buy. Buying a home in general. studying it. much more than your old home.

Main Point: Consider Jesus

Hebrews 3:1 ESV
1 Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
Therefore -
Holy Brothers - Christ has made us brothers. Holy, we are set apart for a purpose.
share in a heavenly calling - The purpose on our life is one of heavenly calling. - Destiny or fate in world’s mind. God’s will
consider Jesus - That is the main point. Consider Jesus. Examine him. To think on him. …This is a command.
We become like Jesus only after we closely examine Him.
Gaze intently at - Beth illustration?
apostle - sent out one. He was sent out from the Father. With a message. This is the only time he is called an apostle. (me watching various preachers)
high priest - He represents the people back to God.
Confession - what we all hold to as true. Homologonia - to say the same thing.

When we consider His faithfulness:

We see He us trustworthy.

We can follow His example.

Hebrews 3:2 ESV
2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house.
faithful - Jesus did what the father asked.
Moses - we know how big of a deal Moses is now.
faithful in God’s House - He built the tabernacle and gave the Law.
Jim Walters illustration - like saying, be quite we are looking at the desk.

When we consider His glory:

We can stop being distracted by other good things.

We can find our place in God’s story.

Hebrews 3:3 ESV
3 For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.
worthy - scale illustration. Glory on the other side. Moses’s glory. No body was more glory than Moses! Like saying someone is a better president than Lincoln.
Moses was part of the house, but Jesus is the one who actually built the home.
If Jesus is better than Moses, he is better than all of us as well.
Hebrews 3:4 ESV
4 (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
God built our faith???
Hebrews 3:5 ESV
5 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,
Moses was faithful - He did all God asked him to do. They viewed Moses as the most faithful person. he is the one who gave them the law to teach them how to be faithful.
Servant - he was not truly part of the family. - Working for someone.
To testify to the things - his whole job as to point to Jesus.
Spoken later - It all pointed to Jesus.
Hebrews 3:6 ESV
6 but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
Christ was faithful like Moses, but he was more because he was a son not a servant.
We are his house (What does that mean?). If God is builder of a house, and we are his house then it means that God is our builder.
hold fast - hold tightly. Hurricane, hold tightly through the storm. Be faithful
boast - in Jesus only.
hope - confidence.
CONCLUSION: Son vs friend or servant relationship. Friend coming over vs son coming over.
