Matt 8:5-9 “When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.””
The Roman officer knew that the servant was sick that he didn't let the sickness defined his faith he went to the faith giver and that was Jesus
Jesus will always meet you in your pain to bring radical transformation and your identity is not your pain
This Roman officer understood how authority works.
I have authority over 100 men who obey me to the letter when I speak. You have authority over demons and one word from You will be enough to heal my servant.
2. The Roman Officer understood how faith works
Expressing absolute faith in the power of Christ. . What faith!
Heb 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
3. IT’S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.
IF YOU WANT A DIVINE ENCOUNTER WITH GOD, YOU MUST COME TO HIM ON HIS TERMS.
God is the personal, self-revealing God whose name is “I AM WHO I AM,” who sits outside of time in eternity.
• This means that no matter how long you have been leading sheep, I AM can deal with your situation and restore the years that have been lost if you will depend completely on Him.
• This is why there is no room in the Christian life for the pride that says, “I can do this myself.”
• Having an authentic encounter with God doesn’t mean your problems are over; you’ll still have to face your Pharaoh.
• But when you face your Pharaoh, I AM is going to be your power, your deliverer, your sustainer and your victory, because “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
