Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20
Theme: Serve Jesus the Lord
Introduction: Parents, friends and church family, thank you for joining us tonight and for your support of the VBS ministry in the many ways you have this week both materially, in prayer, and by sending your children to attend each night. We’ve had a great week that we hope you’ve heard about each night as you pick up your young people. With the week now behind us, we have to ask, “what now?” What is it that we do with what we’ve learned? How do these truths impact the way that we live? Friends, I want to encourage us to … Serve Jesus the Lord.
Serve Jesus the Lord Who has all authority.
Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jesus has all power or authority as Lord.
None has greater power or authority than Jesus.
Transition: How does He choose to use that authority? By empowering us to share the Truth!
Serve Jesus the Lord by sharing Truth.
Disciples, or those who follow Jesus Christ because He is their Savior, are to proclaim the same truths to encourage others to follow the Lord Jesus.
This means that we proclaim that Jesus lived a perfect life of obedience where we as sinners could not, that Jesus died on the cross to save us from the penalty of our sins that we deserve by being separated from God forever in hell, and that Jesus rose from the dead never to die again offering forgiveness of sins and new life as God’s adopted child to all who believe.
Remember friends, Jesus uses His power/authority to empower us to serve Him in obedience and proclaim these truths.
Therefore, we can rely on Him to help us take the Gospel to our families, friends, and the world.
Conclusion: Friends, let’s take VBS beyond this week and faithfully obey and share what we have learned. Maybe you’re here tonight and the Lord Jesus is not your Savior. Please come talk with Pastor Chad or myself or any of the other volunteers in the blue shirts. We’d love to share with you more about what it means to know the Lord.
