I. Introduction

2 Corinthians 6:1–2 KJV 1900
1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

A. Zacchaeus

Luke 19:1–10 KJV 1900
1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

1. He sought to see Jesus!

Luke 19:3–4 KJV 1900
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

a. He was persistent. He did whatever it took to see Jesus!

b. Even if it meant climbing a tree.

2. He wasn’t seeking to be noticed or stop the proceedings of Jesus, but Jesus can never pass someone who is seeking Him!

Luke 19:5 KJV 1900
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
Jeremiah 29:13 KJV 1900
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Proverbs 8:17 KJV 1900
17 I love them that love me; And those that seek me early shall find me.

3. When Jesus spoke Zacchaeus responded immediately!

Luke 19:6 KJV 1900
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

a. Wisdom is determined by how you respond to the voice of God!

Matthew 7:24–27 KJV 1900
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

4. When Jesus comes to your house, repentance is a natural reaction!

Luke 19:8 KJV 1900
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

a. When you are in the presence of Jesus you get an unexplainable urge to turn from sin and toward Him!

1. In fact all the devils in hell cannot stop you from seeking after the change that Jesus can bring!
Mark 5:1–2 KJV 1900
1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. 2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Mark 5:6 KJV 1900
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

5. Because of Zacchaeus repentance salvation came to his house!

Luke 19:9 KJV 1900
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

a. Repentance is the beginning of your salvation process. When you feel the drawing and the need to see Jesus you will realize, as Zacchaeus did, that something has to change!

b. When you encounter Jesus you cannot leave the same.

c. Even after he was ascended up into heaven. When he came back and filled the 120 in the upper room those around began to feel something that caused them to ask the question of how can we change! What shall we do!?

Acts 2:37–40 KJV 1900
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

B. Today is your day of Salvation!

2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV 1900
2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

1. You have the desire to see Jesus!

2. Maybe you have reached the place of I don’t care what it takes I’ve got to see Him!

3. He has come by today and now He has stopped to say I must go home with you today. Will you respond to Him?
