Our worldview is how we make sense of life.
Our worldview is how we make sense of life.
We all have a foundation which will shed light and help us see the world around us. There are many different worldviews but they all do about the “same thing”.
God/Jesus has always existed.
God/Jesus has always existed.
I believe Scripture makes this abundantly clear. Genesis 1 reminds us that God created all things and this is re-affirmed in Colossians 1.16 about Jesus. This is important for us to remember.
Colossians 1:16 (NIV)
For in Jesus all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Everything and everyone else is created.
Everything and everyone else is created.
We may not know the details as much as we would like. We may not be able to figure it all out but this does not negate this truth.
Satan, the enemy, is a created being.
Satan, the enemy, is a created being.
As we think about spiritual warfare we must rest on these truths. There is only one, God Himself, who can be everywhere. Sometimes I have noticed we forget this fact. That or we go the other extreme and deny he exists.
One of the images of Satan is of a lion.
One of the images of Satan is of a lion.
Our passage this morning gives this imagery to help us understand who he is and what we can do about it.
Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?
I am starting to consider this is one of the ways our enemy starts to devour us. If we can be convinced we are on our own then we can do whatever is needed.
God’s care means we can cast everything on him.
God’s care means we can cast everything on him.
This is a deliberate act of worship. This is a constant act of obedience. This is how we humble ourselves to him. This will also mean we do not have to take matters into our own hands.
We must keep our heads.
We must keep our heads.
The idea of being alert and sober minded is a command to think “right” and “well”. In a world were emotions are running high we must not let them control our minds. We must transform our lives by renewing our minds.
We are not alone.
We are not alone.
Though trials, tribulations, even persecution may come we are never alone. Others are in the “same boat” as us.
The objective faith of Jesus.
The objective faith of Jesus.
The faith Peter is talking about is not whether or not we “feel” loved or the personal faith of an individiual. It is the objective verifiable faith of who Jesus is and what He has done.
God provides grace.
God provides grace.
The God of all grace.
God is all powerful.
God is all powerful.
If this is true then it is also true our enemy is not.
