We have covered the why we evangelize. Now lets look at the how. How do we communicate the gospel to those who don’t know Jesus.

Use Scripture

2 Timothy 3:14-17

Trust The Holy Spirit

Mark 13:11, Matthew 10:17-20, Luke 12:11-12
Mark 13:11 ESV
11 And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Know that in the hour you need it, God speaks for you.
Ephesians 6:10-11
Ephesians 6:10–11 ESV
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
We aren’t to trust in our own power and might.
Your clever arguments aren’t going to win people over
It will be by the Holy Spirit changing their heart and drawing them.
His work comes first.
Rely on Him

Your Testimony

You personally telling others how God has and is working in your life is powerful.
Luke 18:43, Luke 5:25, 2 Corinthians 12:1-10
Testimonies of those who went before us.
Luke
Someone telling others how they could now see.
Gave praise to God
Lame man in Luke
He could walk.
Gave praise to God for what had happened.

Let Your Boasting be In Christ

2 Corinthians 12:1-10
To often people make their testimonies about them. Let it not be about us, but about Jesus.
May our testimonies boast of the glories of God, and the way that He has worked in us.

Parts of a testimony

What my life was like before Christ.
Not horror stories, just to let them know, you were a sinner.
How I realized I needed Christ
What are the questions that came into your mind.
They might have those same questions.
What were circumstances that made you question eternity.
Death in the family.
Life altering predicament.
How I committed my life to Christ
Everyone must come the crossroads where you die to self and life for God.
What difference has it made in my life
This should be the largest part of your testimony.
Brag about God, what has He done!!

Essentials to the gospel message

God created us to be in relationship with Him.
Genesis 1:26, we were created in the image of God
This means that we were created to be in communion with God
Genesis 1:31
Man along with all of creation was created very good.
Man used to have fellowship with God in the garden.
We don’t have that relationship becasue of sin.
Emphasize the brokenness of man.
That relationship is devastated because of us.
Jesus made it possible with His life, death, and resurrection to have that relationship with God restored.
God is loving, but God is just. Through the cross His love and justice meet.
This relationship is based on faith.
We must repent of sins, belief in Jesus, and receive Him as Lord

Romans Road

Romans 3:23
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
The bible is stating that no one is exempt from sin. All have committed it, all are judged guilty before God for it.
Romans 6:23
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The payment for that sin, is death.
Romans 5:8
Romans 5:8 ESV
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
While we were enemies of God’s, Christ loved us enough to die, to reconcile us to Him.
Romans 10:9-10
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
No penance, you don’t pay for your sin, God already did that.
We must believe, believe what God has done for you.
At that point we are as good as a demon, for even they believe.
Jesus is Lord.
What He says goes. We must live for Him.
Romans 10:13
Romans 10:13 ESV
13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
The assurance, you will be saved when you are committed to Jesus.

Your Responsibility

These sermons on evangelism weren’t just so you could sit here and be entertained for an hour, or feel good on Sunday mornings.
Your job is to tell.
There are people going to hell outside of those doors.
Are you strong enough to do the will of God, and go out for the harvest.
