Psalm 119:9-16, The Detergent Is for Your Cleansing.

We need cleansing and holiness more than anything. Without holiness no one can see God. The world focuses on physical cleanliness. Spiritual cleanliness is needed. Jesus Christ is the only one who can clean our souls forever. If you know Jesus Christ as Saviour, you are cleansed. We are saved but need continual cleaning by His Word. After we are saved, we need to be cleansed to live a clean life. No sin is too great for God to cleanse.

[Hebrews 12:14: Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Matthew 5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Hebrews 9:22: And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission]. Man is totally depraved. Man’s greatest need is to be cleansed from sin.

[Psalm 119:9: Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word]. His desire. The Psalmist wants to be clean. Submit to God’s Word.

1 Samuel 15:22-23: And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. John 15:3: Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Ephesians 5:26: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

[Psalm 119:10: With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments]. The Psalmist made a decision.

[Psalm 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee]. We glorify God by reading His Word. If we hide His Word in our hearts, it strengthens us against Satan’s attacks. Luke 4:4: And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:8: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Luke 4:12: And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God].

[Ephesians 6:17: And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God]. We arm ourselves. If you want total victory in yourself, arm yourself. To have daily victory we cultivate ourselves by reading God’s Word. Pray for God’s guidance as you read His Word. [Colossians 3:2: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Proverbs 4:23: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life]. Set our affection on things above with our whole heart--not half-heartedly but full surrender.

When we sin, we sin against God. We have to stay clean. Sin will keep us from God’s Word or God’s Word will keep us from sin. We need to stay in God’s Word to stay cleansed. It is impossible to be cleaned without God. We need to pray. God calls for our total surrender.

The world is rejecting God’s Word. This country is rejecting God’s Word. We need the Bible to live to please God.
