Being fully human, Jesus in Gethsemane became sorrowful and troubled. He even told his disciples, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death” (Matt 26:38). He begged the Father three times that the cup might pass. Yet that prayer gave way to this one: “Not my will, but yours be done.”
