SLIDE 1 “7 CHURCHES OF REVELATION”
As you know we have been in the book of Revelation
We will have different series of messages
Since we are on the topic of the church in Revelation now
Jesus has placed the church to be a light in a dark world
Jesus made the church to be so resilient and resourceful
I thought I would show you some examples to day
We should all be awake and ready to go now after worship, but just in case

SLIDE 6 “7 CHURCHES OF REVELATION”
We have been moving forward in The Book of Revelation
Jesus’ letter to the seven churches
Our message titles last Sunday and today has been The Kingdom and 7 Churches
As we have been looking to see what Jesus has written to these churches, the Lord has been weaving in His parable stories “The Kingdom of God (or Heaven) can be likened unto”
I feel very strongly from Holy Spirit not to skip any verses in Revelation
Sometimes preaches feel the need to skip verses for time or not enough happening in those
No way can you do that in Revelation - here is why
The apostle John was at the last supper with Jesus laying his head on Him
In this setting of the letters to the churches John is at the feet of Jesus

Hebrews 4:12 (NASB95)

Revelation 2:12–13 (NASB95)
12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:
13 ‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
SLIDE 18
Revelation 2:14–15 (NASB95)
14 ‘But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.
15 ‘So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
The church of Pergamum was known a s the worldly church
They were wedded to wrong doctrines and practices
There were mystery cults of Babylon among there area
They had slipped into the doctrine of Balaam / They were wedded to the world in order to get worldly advantages
They had accepted false teaching
SLIDE 19
Revelation 2:16 (NASB95)
16 ‘Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.
SLIDE 20
Revelation 2:17 (NASB95)
17 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’
Evidence within Revelation itself, and external sources, suggests that there were major economic, political, and social issues facing the seven churches in Asia Minor.
Evidence also indicates there was pressure in the commercial arena for Christians to submit to pagan worship practices. For example, every craftsman and trader had the opportunity of belonging to his appropriate guild. These societies included sacrificing to a pagan deity (likely to the emperor as well) and participation in a common meal dedicated to a pagan deity (Kraybill, Imperial Cult, 196). In order to survive in the international marketplace it was essential to join trade guilds. It would have been a compromise of their faith for Christians to participate in the activities of these organizations. It is likely the Nicolaitans falsely “redefined apostolic teaching” so Christians could feel comfortable participating in these pagan organizations
You know today brings some things into our hearts and minds we propbal are not comfortable with, maybe some guilt, bad feelings, we want to do better, how quickly the world out there distracts and sometimes many fall into the area of the church just being a social club.
Jesus wants us to have a relationship with Him first, love Him first..............
