Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in the time of need - Hebrews 4:16

I. Introduction

Amazing Grace!
How often have we come together during our life in the church and sang these words? Amazing Grace! The words have a ring that once heard, will never be forgotten
Have we ever really sat down and contemplated the words to this song?
(Who, Where, and When the song was written)
Grace is very amazing. It shows God as being on another level of righteous.
Firstly, God never ceases to amaze me. He will amaze you too if you really come to know him. And oh’, his righteousness. It’s in a whole other league.
The least righteous thing God has done is more righteous than we could ever be.
In the case of grace, God’s grace that is. It’s unparalleled. A little over 2000 years ago, God decided to show us that there is none like him throughout the universe. While mankind, that includes every man, who was/is/ and always will be, knee deep in sin, God decided to show us who he really was. The righteous thing to do was to eternally punish mankind by separating him forever from his presence. According to the law that God wrote, he is well within his parameter to judge every man guilty and banish us to torment in a place far away from him. But God, seen another way to be righteous. Even more righteous. He would have grace on mankind. He would, instead of punishing man and being righteous, forgive man, and show himself even more righteous. This is God’s grace.
God’s love provokes His grace. Again, he shows himself more righteous than mankind can fathom
So it was that during his great show of righteousness through grace, he decided to show us how righteous he was in the eyes of love. It was well within the law of God to just despise man for the wicked things he had done. To put man away and forget he ever existed. But God, in an ultimate show of righteousness, exercised his great love wherewith he loved us and gave us redemption.. As John 3:16-17 says“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
So, after contemplating God’s grace and love for just a moment, we can see him more clearer than ever. Who he really is.
How sweet the sound!
That saved a wretch like me!
