Why was John on the Isle of Patmos? The Isle of Patmos was conquered by the Romans, and used as an island of exile for convicts. John was sent here by order of the Roman Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus in 95 a.d. while the emperor was persecuting the Christians of the empire. Here John shared his faith with the inhabitants, and this is where Christ Reveled the vision of the end of days to the author.
What is the purpose of the book of Revelation?
Why these churches?
This is the revelation of the second coming of Jesus Christ, the revelation of Christ. God told Jesus to reveal to John what is to come in the future, and this is what we have. Jesus is revealing this to John, who is a faithful servant of Christ that witnesses to all who he sees (A great example btw). John makes this remark about those who read these 22 chapters. Revelation 1:3 “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.”
