Introduction

Thank everyone for showing up and explain how excited it made me to see so many students at see you at the pole.
We were never meant to be consumers or even comfortable Christians, but Commissioned Christians
That’s what see you at the pole allowed each of us to do!
But now what?
National week of student prayer is over
Life could very easily go back to normal
OR
You could create the new normal

Body

Today we are going to discuss the power of prayer and how you should take the initiative this year to create the new normal.
Seminary first day, 100 pages to read of baptist history, watch dings prayer request for deputies, but i ignore it in my busyness.
When God gives you an opportunity to pray do you stop or continue in the busyness of life?
Christians don’t pray much in the grand scheme of things. 48% of adult Christians say they pray on a daily basis
Even less teenage Christians pray on a daily basis at 27%
Are you making prayer a priority in your life?
Scripture teaches us that even Jesus made prayer a priority and when the disciples had the opportunity to ask Jesus anything they decided to ask him how to pray.
The bible says in 1 John 5:14 that we are supposed to have confidence in our prayers.
Today we are going to read a passage in the bible that shows us the impact that prayer has on us.
Peter and John and other believers were being persecuted. The Jerusalem Christians would respond to this with prayer and praise for continued boldness when sharing the faith and seeking to bring Christ glory. This passage is what happens next and it’s awesome!
Acts 4:31–37 CSB
31 When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God boldly. 32 Now the entire group of those who believed were of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but instead they held everything in common. 33 With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them. 34 For there was not a needy person among them because all those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the proceeds of what was sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet. This was then distributed to each person as any had need. 36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus by birth, the one the apostles called Barnabas (which is translated Son of Encouragement), 37 sold a field he owned, brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
God answers our prayer through fulfilling our needs
No Lambos or Gucci Flip flops
I think it is a good general statement that prayer causes boldness
Causes us to be of one heart and mind
Our unity comes in Christ
We have a mission at our youth ministry. We want to be disciples who make disciples who make disciples
Causes us to be selfless and not selfish
This happens because when we are in communication with Christ we focus on heavenly things and don’t get caught up on our worldly possessions.

Conclusion

These 3 things are a great start in setting a new culture.
God moved so much through his people praying together that he literally shook the house they were in
I’ll ask again what I asked when we started, Now what?
Will we get so caught up in the busyness of life or will we genuinely create a culture change.
That isn’t easy, but it starts with you and it starts today
Prayer changes everything!
God changes everything!
If you don’t know Christ today and this message got ahold of you I want you to know how deeply we care. God cares. You aren’t here by accident. God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you. Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for the sin of the world and save all of us from a sentence to hell.
That’s why we pray, that’s why we seek, that’s why we create he change now wherever you go to school
Right now we are going to stand and give you all the opportunity to pray together in unity. Whether you want to pray by yourself or pray with one of your friends. Pray today that God moves not just in SYATP week, but throughout the school year.
If you haven’t commited your life to Christ yet we want to give you that opportunity as well. There are countless student leaders around you who are here to support you and also tons of adults. We are here to support you.
