A few have been with out power
One couple was flooded out of their home

2. YMCA

We will keep you updated

3. Next Steps

Exploring Options of where to meet In the interim
We don’t know what we don’t know
ILL: Bad Golf shot
we will keep you updated

II. Encouragement

Why I am encouraged

1. The Church is a people not a place.

You have responded
Many have decided to gather as groups this morning — what a testimony to this truth.
Let’s continue to remain connected in this time as we adjust.

2. Being the Body of Christ

we would have been in…
John 14:12–17 (ESV)
12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
Jesus had to go to the cross to empower the Church with the Holy Spirit.
Empowered by the Spirit we are the hands and feet of Jesus.
What an opportunity to serve those around us.
To be a church for the city, nations and generations.
the disciples were about to have their worlds turned upside down
Jesus is equipping them for ministry
so let’s come to Gods Word and immerse ourselves in it.

A. Communication

Let’s stay connected.
Let us know via email or text any needs that you become aware of.
We will communicate needs and serving opportunities as they arrive.
email, church center, Facebook

3. God is still Sovereign

We don’t fully understand this now, but we will in the days, months and years to come.
We believe in the Sovereignty of God over all things.
Psalm 34:1 (ESV)
1 I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 34:4 (ESV)
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Because God is Sovereign and God is good we can have hope.

III. Hope for the Future

This is going to be a challenge
there are unknowns and uncertainties
but as I was prayer walking my neighborhood this week this God reminded me of something.
I don’t know if there is anything to it, but it gave me great hope

1. Elijah and the Prophets of Baal

On August 28 preached a sermon on Elijah and the Prophets of Baal
It was about calling up on and depending upon God’s power above everything else.
Just before God’s presence and power showed up for His people, Elijah had drenched the altar with water
to make it even more impossible...Then fire fell from heaven
We have just been doused by water.
The YMCA has been doused by water
What could be just on the other side?
Let’s cry out to the Lord together.
In prayer

2. Jesus calls Peter unto the Water.

Matthew 14:27–33 (ESV)
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”
31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

A. The Point:

keep our eyes fixed on Jesus
Not on the Storm, not on the water, not on the wind and waves
but on Jesus and cry out to Him “Lord, Save me”

B. The Call:

Praying with our eyes and hearts fixed on Jesus
John 14:13–14 (ESV)
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
Praying in the name of Jesus
In accordance with His Will (his desires)
By virtue of our Union with Christ
