Rom 1:16

Romans 1:16 KJV 1900

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Hearing and believing the Gospel is essential (Acts 15:7)

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

He lived (Jn 1:1-3, 14; Acts 2:22)

He died for our sins (Jn 1:29)

He was buried (Mt 12:40)

an inheritance (1:11)

Heed the warnings of the Gospel

Those obey not to be punished (2 Thess 1:8-9)

Aug 2008--sis Willie died; Mr. Cyril requested to be baptized at the funeral

Sept--

hunting trip

became ill and hospitalized

Dad visited hospital; dr refused baptism

@home, daughter suggested just putting him in the shower and getting him wet

Daughter said, “I’m calling my pastor”

October--still wanted to be baptized

tubs and containers sought to accommodate im being baptized at home--unable to leave home to be baptized @ the church building

Friday October 2

Dad: “I don’t think we can do it.”

“That’s ok Vick. How much do I owe you?”

Never did understand

Sunday:

Dad took a MD brother to help

Cyril Clements had died Friday evening
