Hope is being seen as the least of all virtues . faith also has taken allot of scrutiny because faith can under-mind reason. And now love is under attack, with the isolation of people and the lack of real relationships with the social media age.

In the 19th century the philosopher Frederick Nietzsche (1844–1900) claimed that Christianity made people cowards because it taught that whatever happened was God’s will, thus discouraging efforts to change the world
To the world hope is seen
as being the way of escapism, futility, or indifference toward the problems and pains of human existence.
The world has a humanistic approach to the basis of hope.
They believe because man is the source of the worlds problems they man will also be the solution.
We try to build our lives in such a way that will promote hope for the future.
We build build houses and create advanced school systems. Though war is on the horizon.
But the hope we have does the opposite of that. The Hope we have enables us to preserve.
Biblical hope is hope in what God will do in the future. At the heart of Christian hope is the resurrection of Jesus. Paul discussed the nature, certainty, and importance of the resurrection (1 Cor 15:12–28).
Scripture relates being without hope is being in the world without God.
that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
This verse sounds as if he is ending his epistle.
Its a Benedictory prayer.
Several times Paul sounds like hes ending his letter.
Romans 15:33 “Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.”
Romans 16:20 “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”
Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
Hope - Elpis- elpeace
When we look to God theres always hope.
who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
The hope that Abraham had even though he was 100 years old and Sarahs womb was dead. He had hope that God would give him a son.
“The Father of many nations”
Naturally I think Abraham could easily because the father of one nation.
But the father of many nations that doesn’t happen naturally, that happens supernaturally.
Romans 4:13 “For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.”
God has not given us hope in a natural promise but a supernatural one.
God made a promises to Abraham thousands of years ago about his descendants. And we are hear talking about Abraham.
You dont need ancestary.com to see who your father is.
The first civilization was made by Cain and his descendants.
They wanted to build a natural sense of security for hope for his descendants.
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Romans 8:24 (NKJV)
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?
We are waiting for the adoption of our body.
We have a expectation of the adoption of our bodys but its not a actuality.
The opposite of hope is to give up.
Is to renounce a person, idea or situation. To cease to hope.
To despair means to be utterly without a way.
Jonah was a man in despair.
The disciples after Jesus death. They went back fishing
So the poor have hope,
And injustice shuts her mouth.
In the presence of God us as His children are rich.
Through the gospel you don’t see hope mentioned much.
What should us as believers be hopeful for?
1. That we will see Jesus again in heaven.
Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you.
John 13:36 “Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.””
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
We have the “Hope” of salvation
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
Perseverance is so closely allied with hope that at times hope can even be called perseverance.
1 Thess 1:3 “remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,”
In Pauls writings perseverance takes the place of hope as a characteristic of faithful discipleship.
that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,
Ps. 42:5 “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.”
