Proverbs 3:5–10 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

3 Keys To Taken A Stand For God

1. Make Your Mind Up

Daniel 1:8 (ESV)
8. But Daniel resolved...
Resolved = Determined in one’s mind and heart.
Daniel’s victory in his story did not begin when he opened his mouth, it began when he opened his heart.
Matthew 15:18–19 ESV
But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.
What you choose to place in your heart is what’s going to make the difference between taking a right stand for God or not.
Job 31:1 (ESV)
“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin?
Joshua 24:15 (ESV)
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

2. Know When To Take A Stand

Daniel Did not take a stand on everything.
They removed Daniel to a pagan land....no sign of resistance.
They removed Daniel to a pagan land....no sign of resistance.
They changed his name to worship pagans…..No sign of resistance.
They removed Daniel to a pagan land....no sign of resistance.
They changed his name to worship pagans…..No sign of resistance.
They made him attend their seminary school....No sign of resistance.

The food was a biblical issue.

Exodus 34:15 (ESV)
15. lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and when they whore after their gods and sacrifice to their gods and you are invited, you eat of his sacrifice,
It's only when there is a clear violation of the Word of God that Daniel stands up for what he believes.
Daniel 1:1 (ESV)
1. In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.

The real issue is our view of TRUTH.
Timothy 3:1-2
1. But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
Timothy 3:7
7. always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
John 17:13–17 ESV
But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Not only Daniel knew when to take a stand but he knew how to take a stand.
Colossians 4:6 ESV
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

3. Believe That God Will Give You Favor.

Daniel 1:9 ESV
And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs,
Daniel 1:12–13 (ESV)
12. “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13. Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king’s food be observed by you, and deal with your servants according to what you see.”
Daniel 1:20 (ESV)
20. And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.
Daniel and his friends knew this would cost them something, yet they were willing. “Be ready for a bad name; be willing to be called a bigot; be prepared for the loss of friendships; be prepared for anything so long as you can stand fast by Him who bought you with His precious blood.” (Charles Spurgeon)
