Genesis 8:22 (LEB)
As long as the earth endures, seed and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will not cease.
Everything and everyone exists due to seeds.
You were a seed.
Your mother and father came together with seed, time passed, your mothers body nurtured you, and you were harvested!

The word of God-
The word of God-
Luke 8:11 “Now the parable means this: the seed is the word of God,”
Who is the word of God?
Who is the word of God?
Jesus. This is seen in:
Jesus. This is seen in:
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
When we evangelize we use god’s word. The words he speaks through us, his written word, and Jesus.
Romans 10:17 (LEB)
Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word about Christ.
- We need God’s seed, Jesus.
How does God’s word develop within us?
We first need to understand a little about seed.
Think about your salvation story-
Jesus was planted, watered and harvested, and if you are a Christian your plant is growing forever.
Its not just about having a sapling its about growing a tree. So How?
Facts about Seeds-
Facts about Seeds-
1. Every seed is alive
1. Every seed is alive
Every word spoken from God is living.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, both joints and marrow, and able to judge the reflections and thoughts of the heart.”
2. Every Seed has potential for growth-
2. Every Seed has potential for growth-
Key word is potential!
Children’s Science-Every seed has a baby plant inside which is called an embryo.
There is life inside of every word of God you hear.
3. They Have A Coat of Protection-
3. They Have A Coat of Protection-
What surrounds the seed embryo is a seed coat. Some are thicker than others. Some seeds are harder to crack than others, some take more time to break down than others.
When God speaks certain words it make take longer to digest and take root.
4. The Thicker the Skin The longer for growth.
4. The Thicker the Skin The longer for growth.
The tough skin must die before the embryo can grow.
John 12:24 (LEB)
Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
You must die to self and selfishness, to multiply your fruit
those that try to save their life will lose it
5. They Multiply-
5. They Multiply-
Acts 12:24 “Now the Lord’s Word continued to grow and increase.”
Even after the death of some of the apostles by Herod and Herod himself dying due to his pride, the lords word flourished
It s not dependent on our actions. it is bigger than all of us.
6. Seed’s need protection.
6. Seed’s need protection.
We use insecticides, scarecrows, green houses to protect our plants.
You must defend your seed! With the sword!
Ephesians 6:17 “and receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,”
We must defend our seeds, and the words we receive. Or they may be destroyed or slowly eaten away.
The devil- rabbits, insects tear up plants before growth.
7. The size doesn’t determine the outcome-
7. The size doesn’t determine the outcome-
A small seed can produce a large tree and a big seed a small plant.
Take a lima bean and a mustard seed.
So don’t let the beginning define you.
Matthew 13:31-32 “He put before them another parable, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it is grown it is larger than the garden herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky come and nest in its branches.””
What environment do seeds need?
What environment do seeds need?
1. Good Soil.
1. Good Soil.
If a seed is in the wrong soil it will die.
The seed is always good, its the environment we accept the seed into that needs to change for growth to happen.
Matthew 13:3–9 (LEB)
And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow, and while he was sowing, some seed fell on the side of the path, and the birds came and devoured it. And other seed fell on the rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up at once because it did not have any depth of soil. But when the sun rose it was scorched, and because it did not have enough root, it withered. And other seed fell among the thorn plants, and the thorn plants came up and choked it. But other seed fell on the good soil and produced grain, this one a hundred times as much and this one sixty and this one thirty. The one who has ears, let him hear!”
-Some plants wont grow in certain places. The dessert there is no room for growth except for harmful plants.
-The study of speaking negative to plants
2.Room to Grow Roots
2.Room to Grow Roots
devotion time alone prayer alone
Matthew 6:6 (LEB)
But whenever you pray, enter into your inner room and shut your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Dont look at the other plant next to you comparing your size and growth.
stay in your lane.
3. Time
3. Time
Many people wan’t an automatic outcome.
Miracles do happen, but there are many times we must remain patient in the waiting.
God’s timing is perfect. Dont pluck it out.
Watermelon Plant
4. Water.
4. Water.
Jesus is our living water, we must drink him daily.
John 7:37 “Now on the last day of the feast—the great day—Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink,”
God’s word can be likened to a seed because they need the same things a physical seed does to grow.
God’s word can be likened to a seed because they need the same things a physical seed does to grow.
SO, when you have planted wait for god for the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:7 (LEB)
So then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who is causing it to grow.
In the end after we have followed these steps there is one final thing to keep in mind, God brings the increase.
