Intro

Feelings of anxiety, loneliness, pain
Readings this week: Luke 11 + Psalms
Luke 11:1, Psalm 77:2 — they’d rather pray
Psalm 77:3-9, 71:9 — feeling the distress
How do we pray right now? Honestly + hopefully

1. Praise God for who he is (Luke 11:2, 4)

hallowed be your name
forgive me (we recognize our smallness)

2. Thank him for his faithfulness (Psalm 77:10, 20)

Psalm 71:6
make a list of every good thing
1 Sam. 7:12 // raise your Ebenezer

3. Ask him for help again (Psalm 71:1-3, 9, 12, 18)

Luke 11:3
verses in Ps. 71 (expectation of help, v. 19-21)
“thy kingdom come” can go with Rom. 8:28

4. Look to the cross (Psalm 73:16-17, 26-28)

we may not know why we suffer, but we can know the one who suffered for us
We pray honestly and hopefully because he cares for us.
