Habakkuk 3:1–2 KJV 1900
A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make known; In wrath remember mercy.
Prayer of devotion
Mercy is what we must flee to for refuge, not our merit
Habakkuk 3:3–15 KJV 1900
God came from Teman, And the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, And the earth was full of his praise. And his brightness was as the light; He had horns coming out of his hand: And there was the hiding of his power. Before him went the pestilence, And burning coals went forth at his feet. He stood, and measured the earth: He beheld, and drove asunder the nations; And the everlasting mountains were scattered, The perpetual hills did bow: His ways are everlasting. I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: And the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? Was thine anger against the rivers? Was thy wrath against the sea, That thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation? Thy bow was made quite naked, According to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: The overflowing of the water passed by: The deep uttered his voice, And lifted up his hands on high. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: At the light of thine arrows they went, And at the shining of thy glittering spear. Thou didst march through the land in indignation, Thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, Even for salvation with thine anointed; Thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, By discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: They came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: Their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly. Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, Through the heap of great waters.
God shows up in all His Glory
All of nature is shaken and changed
All of it is for salvation of God’s people, He is faithful to those that trust in Him
Even what may seem the least likely he shall make it to work for His Glory and our salvation
Joshua who led the armies of Israel was a figure of Him whose name he bares, even Jesus, our Joshua all the wonders done for Israel is nothing compared to the resurrection and ascension.
Habakkuk 3:16–19 KJV 1900
When I heard, my belly trembled; My lips quivered at the voice: Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, That I might rest in the day of trouble: When he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no meat; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, And he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, And he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
When we see trouble approach we get concerned to say the least, if not fearful to get prepared
Habakkuk looks back and observes what great things God has done for them
He started out in his book with fear and trembling, and ends with joy, and triumph
Habakkuk resolves to delight in the Lord for when all is gone God is still Here
Your Hope is in the Lord
Psalm 42:11 KJV 1900
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, Who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 146:5 KJV 1900
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God:
Let go of your possessions & comfort of this world.
You cannot serve to masters, who are you really serving today. You may be saved and your salvation is secure, but are you serving Him? Before you get yourself in trouble and lie to yourself and Him, really ask yourself this question, how am I serving Him. Coming to church, studying your Bible, praying, even if you are doing it faithfully that is all for you, you do not serve God by asking to heal you, or bless you, you do not serve God unless you are doing something for Him, the church, and others.
Jesus when He is our Lord & Savior is our balm for every wound, He is our ointment poured out.
John 14:1–4 KJV 1900
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Walk by faith not sight
He is coming back.
He is preparing a place for us, are you ready?
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 KJV 1900
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Have you done this, if you go to heaven today why should you get i.
1 John 5:13 KJV 1900
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
