Introduction

Galilee Ministry

The ministry of Jesus began in a place called Galilee as fulfillment of the prophecy made by prophet Isaiah that the Messiah is to be the great light to Galilee.
Isaiah 9:1–2 ESV
But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.
One of the Cities of Galilee is Capernaum.
it is a village north of shore of the sea of Galilee.
This is in fact Jesus H/Q for his Ministry.
It is among the 3 cities that Jesus denounce for not repenting despite might works done. Jesus Compares it to the Sodom a city that was destroyed because sin yet did hear or see the might works by the messiah. Matt 11:23-24
Matthew 11:23–24 ESV
And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”

Faith in Christ

Centurion was a command of 80 troops, it is an important position in Roman army.
There are different positions whether he could afford a servant or not because some of the sources reveal that Roman soldiers did not even marry.
This man has a servant who is paralyzed, Luke says he is about to die ( Luke 7:2) So he comes to Jesus to plead with for healing.
Jesus ask’s what the man wants Jesus to administer his healing. “ shall I come and heal him?”
The Centurion recognizes that he is unclean but then he recognizes Jesus ability to heal by the spoken word.

Jesus amazed

Jesus is amazed because he has not found such faith in Israel
Jews and Gentiles will share the table at banquet for the righteous in God’s end time Kingdom. Unlike the descendants of Abraham who do not have faith in Jesus.in
