King James Version Psalm 44:13
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
King James Version 1 Corinthians 3:18-19
1 Corinthians 3:18–19 (ASV)
Let no man deceive himself.
If any man thinketh that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.
For it is written, He that taketh the wise in their craftiness:
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.
For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
Derision: contemptuous ridicule or mockery; although none of these things quite mean fool or being foolish, they are things an individual may have to suffer.
Yet, first consider, those who show us contempt, ridicule or mockery are doing so because we are, as Saint Paul, Apostle, testifies being fools for Christ Jesus.
Therefore, they are not mocking us; rather they are mocking God.
What does it mean to be a fool for Christ Jesus: doesn’t it mean to live according to his Gospel faithfully; to believe in him faithfully?
Doesn’t it mean: if we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit: again, if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit: and again, if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit....
Wait a bit Christians don’t make the mistake of believing that conscience or imagination are Spirit; clearly our conscience tempt us to sin: Ephesians 2:2 and our imagination and thoughts have sinful affections; whereas, when we discern the Spirit, we know that it is in accordance with the holiness of our Lord Christ Jesus....
