Read Revelation 21:1-27.
The redemption story we have been following this week is not yet over.
We are living in it – stretched between the tension of a Kingdom that is both “already here” and “not yet.”
One day, God’s Kingdom will be fully here.
Creation and humanity will be redeemed.
John’s vision confirms that one day there will be a new heaven and a new earth.
One day, sin, evil, decay and death and their consequences will pass away.
One day, God will make everything new!
Whilst this is some time in the future, it is being built in the present and we are called to be Kingdom builders.
We are blessed with the glory of God’s presence in our lives and that should be reflected in the way we live and in the way we treat creation and our environment.
We can bring about God’s gift of a new heaven and a new earth through our words and actions today.
What can you do today to continue God’s redemption story and help bring about its ultimate fulfilment?
THINK IT OVER
Think about the following:
How much do you think non-Christians in your circles see climate change as something the Church cares about?
How might this limit their understanding of God and the gospel?
